CAMBODIAN COMMUNITIES IN AUCKLAND, NEW ZEALAND -
Auckland is near the tip of New Zealand, there are about three Thousand Cambodian New Zealanders living here.
Most of them came here in the 80s, during the high exodus of refugees from Cambodia. A few who made it here in
the 90s, either came here under the family reunification act or are married to Kiwi's. These days, Immigrants
who come to New Zealand, get no financial support from the government for the first two years, so you just
have to work hard. In recent years, there are more Cambodian overseas students studying here.

a significant Austrian Membership, throughout Australia and New Zealand. It exists to foster co-operation and
interchange of ideas amongst its members, to promote our Austrian heritage and culture and to give the Austrian
Community in this part of the world a common voice.
BHARTIYA SAMAJ CHARITABLE TRUST -
To work towards bringing together various community groups and Associations of Indian origin operating in New
Zealand under one umbrella. To support and assist new migrants from India in settling down suitably in
New Zealand and to ensure that these persons have full access to the mainstream social and health services
required for a good quality of life.
COUNCIL OF PHILLIPINE ORGANISATIONS INCORPORATED (CAPO Inc) -
Brought together by a common and a mutual desire to give an equal opportunity to all constituents and supporters of the local Filipino community to participate in Auckland-wide undertakings, regardless of sex, religion, origin, affiliation or material wealth, representatives from 14 of the dynamic Filipino community organisations in the Auckland Region and private individuals ultimately cemented the formation of an umbrella organisation named the Council of Auckland Philippine Organisations Incorporated. The organisation was registered as an Incorporated Society as at 12 September 2002 after the ratification of its Charter and By-Laws
SOMALI FRIENDSHIP SOCIETY -
As numbers increased, so did the need for more support and focal point for these peole. And that is what led
to the establishment of the Somali Friendship Society. The society, the first of its kind in the New Zealand,
was incorprated in 1995 with the aim of providing help and support and to advocate the needs of the Somali
community in Hamilton, and to help integrate the new arrivals into the community and the wider society. As part
of its commitments to the community, the society has, in the past few years, conducted various programmes such
as maths tution for children, Road Code lessons, sewing classes for women, cultural programmes and study centre
for children. In addition, the society also disseminates information and details of important policy changes to
the community.
THE DANISH SOCIETY -
The Hamilton Danish Society is a club that runs an active program for Danes and Danish descendants in the Waikato region.
The society's calendar includes functions with the Waikato Norwegian and the Waikato Swedish Societies to
enjoy Scandanavian food. A newsletter is sent regularly to members. Occasionally there are excursions to
different places around the Waikato, visiting places or homes of members etc... If you wish to contact the

SOUTH AFRICANS IN THE WAIKATO -
In the latter half of 2000, nine ex South Africans had a series of meetings to identify what could be done to
promote the well-being of people in the Waikato region both for South Africans and Kiwis. Our vision is to
create stable and prosperous communities. Centrally located on North Island - less than two hours driving time from Auckland and the Bay of
Plenty port of Tauranga. Within three hours of Rotorua, Lake Taupo and the Ski fields of Mt. Ruapehu.
WAIKATO FILIPINO ASSOCIATION -
The Waikato Filipino Association was formed 1993 and was incorporated under the Charitable Act # 1957 on the 13th day of December 2001. The " WFA" is a social and cultural non-profit organisation based in and about Hamilton City.
It was founded primarily to preserve and promote Filipino ideals, values, culture and tradition - especially song and dance among Filipinos and Filipino/Kiwi families.
We have participated in local community activities for the past few years and thus have a close cultural relationship with other cultural groups in the Waikato and New Zealand as a whole.
TAURANGA FILIPINO SOCIETY INC - This is dedicated to
all Filipinos in the Philippines and throughout the world, including Filipinos who found a new home in New
Zealand and who are trying to maintain their pride in their homeland, its history, customs, and traditions.
It is also dedicated to their Philippine-born or New Zealand-born children who are seeking their cultural
heritage, and to non-Filipinos who are wishing to learn more about Filipinos and their culture.
SCANINAVIAN CLUB OF MANAWATU INC. -
Palmerston North was New Zealand's first Scandinavian settlement. It was the experiment that was planned to trigger further settlement
by Scandinavian migrants to less hospitable parts of the country, such as Southern Hawkes Bay and Wairarapa -
the so-called Seventy-Mile-Bush and Forty-Mile-Bush. Due to its location, Palmerston North was fated to become
a city. Some of the other settlements that were effectively founded by Scandinavian migrants are now only
shadows of their former selves, while Norsewood and Dannevirke remain linked to their unique heritage
through their names. Our Club hopes that your visit will be informative and that those of you undertaking
research will find something of interest to you.
THE PHILIPPINE CENTRAL ASSOCIATION, INC. -
The PCA was organised in January 1991 by a group of 10 couples and 11 individuals. It was the aim of the group to have a formal association of Filipino expatriates in order forge unity and camaraderie among them and share the Filipino culture to the larger community.
From 1991, the PCA has grown from a 21-member organisation to over 100-family and individual members in 2004. Every year the number is growing. Throughout the years of its existence, PCA has continuously conducted events and activities where members and their families experience to be “at home away from home”, celebrate Filipino traditions and observe Filipino values. In the broader area, the PCA has been proud to share the Filipino culture to New Zealanders in local events celebrating cultural diversity in New Zealand.

WELLINGTON JEWISH COMMUNITY CENTRE -
Located in the capital city of New Zealand, the Wellington Jewish Community was established in 1843. This Jewish
community, although small, has had it's own distinctive impact both within New Zealand and the wider Jewish
world. Jews from all around the world have migrated to picturesque Wellington, and it is this diversity of
people that has shaped the life of this city and it's Hebrew Congregation.

HUTT VALLEY IRISH SOCIETY -
We all have two other things in common: we all live in or around the Hutt Valley in New Zealand, and we enjoy
maintaining or building links with others from 'the old country'.We meet regularly in our own premises. These rooms provide a focal point
for Society activities, particularly the regular Friday and Sunday 'craic'.

The main aims of the Christchurch Swiss Club are to promote good spirit and understanding among Swiss, Kiwis, and other members and to arrange social
gatherings which are in the interest of the majority of the club members. We also provide information,
contacts, and links to interesting things and events in Christchurch, New Zealand, and Switzerland
THE WELSH CAMBRIAN SOCIETY OF CANTERBURY -
The Society has a current financial membership of around 160 and some additional friends who attend our meetings. The membership subscription is $10 a year plus we charge a $2 entry fee for ordinary monthly meetings to cover the cost of the room hire and the entertainment, in exchange each person is given a raffle ticket. Each member also receives a monthly newsletter. Members can also borrow free of charge, for one month, from our libraries of Welsh books and cassette tapes.
To join the Society you don't have to be Welsh or even have a connection with Wales, all we ask is an interest in the Society and in things Welsh. If you live in the Christchurch area why not contact us, come along to one of our meetings and get to know our friendly members. If you live further away you can become a friend of the Society and still receive our newsletters.
